What should I pack?
We recommend packing light and practical:
Clothing
- Neutral-coloured clothing (khaki, beige, olive) — avoid dark blue and black (attracts tsetse flies).
- Light layers: a warm jacket for cool mornings, short sleeves for midday.
- Long trousers and long-sleeved shirts for sun and insect protection.
- A wide-brimmed hat, sunglasses, and comfortable closed shoes.
- A swimsuit (some camps have pools or you can swim in the delta).
Essential gear
- High-SPF sunscreen (SPF 50+) and DEET insect repellent.
- A headlamp (with red-light mode) and a flashlight.
- Binoculars (8x25+) and a camera with spare batteries.
- Soft duffel bag — hard suitcases are not suitable for safari vehicles.
- Reusable water bottle.
- Personal first-aid kit and any prescription medication.
